Looking back for a hundred years, don’t forget the initial heart

Since the birth of Cummins’ first diesel engine in 1919, Cummins’ main business has never left a diesel-powered solution for a century. During this period, generations of Cummins engines pushed the wheel of history forward.

In 2018, Cummins launched a full range of national six engine products from 2.8L to 14L in China. It adopts non-EGR intelligent control design, which is Cummins’ most advanced power solution in the world. It can be the first to meet the national 6th B stage and Europe. The six-D stage emission requirements and the achievement of excellent fuel consumption performance fully meet the diversified needs of China’s light, medium and heavy commercial vehicle market. At present, Dongfeng, Futian, Shaanxi Auto, Jianghuai, Liuqi, China National Heavy Duty Truck, Universiade, SAIC Iveco Hongyan, Jiangling, Hyundai and other models equipped with Cummins Six Engines are ready to be put on the market.

Cummins’ six-series engines are developed locally in China, effectively collaborating with Cummins’ global R&D resources, and are developed in cooperation with Chinese OEMs, in combination with actual road conditions in China. The total bench test time of each platform exceeded 25,000 hours, plus nearly 2 years of drive test time, and passed two rounds of severe three-high test. While improving power and reliability, it will also help users reduce the total operating cycle cost, and further improve ride comfort and safety to achieve the best performance.

Cummins exhibited 2.8L, 3.8L, 4.5L, 6.7L, 12L, and 14L six iterative upgraded National Six engine platforms at the Shanghai Auto Show:

1  2.8L engine power 96-130kW, torque range 320-450N·m. The newly designed platform has improved horsepower and torque and increased power by 20%. At the same time, the improvement of the drive train reduced the noise by 3 decibels, and the driving comfort was greatly improved.

2  3.8L engine power 105-140kW, torque range 500-700N·m. While maintaining solid reliability, it increases low-speed torque and adds engine braking. Intelligent fuel consumption management solutions further improve fuel economy.

3  4.5L engine power 140-162kW, torque range 700-820N·m. Under the premise of greatly improving power, the application of non-EGR design and intelligent control system has greatly improved fuel economy and reliability.

4  6.7L engine power 169-232kW, torque range 900-1200N·m. With more powerful low-speed torque, the vehicle’s transient response performance is greatly improved, the fuel injection pressure of 1800bar, and the oil change interval of 60,000 kilometers further help users reduce the total operating cost.

5  The 12L engine has a power of 265-360kW and a torque range of 1900-2300N·m. Comprehensively improve power and reliability, and a variety of smart applications help fuel economy further.

6  The 14L engine has a power of 358-441kW and a torque range of 2400-2750N·m. Further reducing the weight by 250kg, the torque is increased by 14%, while further reducing fuel consumption, to meet the needs of domestic customers for higher power.
